Face as Canvas
Human beings began face-painting and body adornment as cave dwellers. This art was used as communication and personal expression. I chose to use my face as a creative tool to share ideas expressed through color, texture and form.
Indigenous cultures around the earth practice body adornment as a tradition of worship. Dancers paint their faces to call for blessings for their communities. The same symbols and expressions can be observed in cultures on opposite sides of the world.
Therefore, this kind of painting is a marker for a global connection and the acknowledgment that we are one Human Race.
