Paper Quilts,Collages and Shoes

I combine abstract designs, colors and textures to create paper quilts, garments, shoes and wall collages. The quilt dresses were inspired by African American patchwork quilt designers. The quilters sewed patches of many different fabrics together to make quilts as bedding. As art, I collage many kinds of mulberry, watercolor, and specialty papers together. My paper quilts, honor the quilt-makers that contributed to a unique American art form, Wall Quilts. My collage“SUNBEAM” is part of the collection of Sun art for the CBS news show Sunday Morning. The shoe sculptures are a fun way of expressing shoe designs as works of art. These shoes have been shown and sold at the Made By Gallery, Ringling College of Art and Design, Sarasota, Florida.
